Consumer Affairs Secretary Jagdish Prasad Meena said consumers can play a pivotal role in the Swachhta Mission.<br/><br/>Addressing media persons in New Delhi today, he said, Consumer Affairs Ministry is popularizing cleanliness under Jago Grahak Jago campaign and consumers are being informed about their responsibilities to keep the country clean.<br/><br/>The secretary also informed that the subordinate and autonomous organizations of the departments under the ministry such as Bureau of Indian standards and National Test House are also undertaking activities to create awareness among its staff and public.<br/><br/>Department of Consumer Affairs celebrated Swachhta Pakhwada from 16th to 31st of this month. The Pakhwada was initiated by an oath taking ceremony attended by the officers and staff of the department. <br/><br/>The aim of the Swachhta Pakhwada was to spread awareness and implementation of cleanliness across the country with a focus on role of the consumer in taking a leadership role for sanitation initiatives. <br/><br/>A series of activities were undertaken such as Nukkad Natak, slogan writing, poster making and essay writing competitions. <br/><br/>The consumers were made aware of their responsibilities to keep the country clean through Doordarshan, All India Radio, Lok Sabha TV, and Private FM Channels across the country.
