<span style="color: #222222;">Minister of State for Consumer Affairs C R Chaudhary has expressed hope that the Consumer Protection Bill- 2018 will be passed in the coming Winter Session of Parliament. Talking to AIR, Mr Chaudhary said, the legislation will be very helpful in the direction of protection of consumer' rights. He said, to promote, protect, and enforce consumer rights, the Bill has the provision to set up a regulatory body, known as the Central Consumer Protection Authority. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">This Authority can also pass orders to prevent unfair and restrictive trade practices, such as selling goods not complying with standards. Mr Chaudhary also said, there is a provision of hefty penalty against those involved in misleading advertisements.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> Earlier, Mr Chaudhary addressed the Conference on functioning of Consumer Fora in New Delhi. In his address, Mr Chaudhary stressed on the need for strengthening the system to expeditiously addressing the grievances of consumers. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Consumer Affairs Secretary, Avinash K Srivastava said, the government has implemented the national consumer helpline where people can register their grievances. He said, more than 450 companies have joined the convergence programme of the Ministry for speedy redressal of grievances of the consumers. President of National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, R K Agrawal shared his views.</span><br />
