The Consulate General of India (CGI) is providing necessary assistance to Vijay an Indian national who was arrested at Houston airport on 20th of this month allegedly for carrying brass knuckles, which is a prohibited item, under Texas laws. The representatives of CGI in Houston met Vijay Kumar on Wednesday and spent about 40 minutes with him. According to External Affairs Ministry he appeared to be in good health . A statement by the ministry said that investigations are currently ongoing and the matter is subjudice. It said CGI would remain actively engaged in the matter, to provide necessary consular assistance to Mr. Kumar and to satisfy itself that the case is handled expeditiously. The CGI had contacted concerned local authorities and members of the Indian community who knew Mr. Kumar and Vijay Kumat himself immediately upon learning of the incident Vija Kumar is currently lodged at the Immigration Holding Facility (IHF) at Houston.
