The Consul General of India in San Francisco is in touch with local authorities who are ascertaining the nature of the crime where a masked gunman shot a Sikh man and allegedly shouted go back to your own country. <br/><br/>The victim of the alleged hate crime is 39 year old Deep Rai who is a US citizen. He was shot in the arm. Sources said that Rai is now able to talk. The Consulate General of India has wished him a speedy recovery and assured every possible assistance. <br/><br/>The incident came days after an Indian engineer, Srinivas Kuchibhotla was shot dead at a bar in Kansas by a US navy veteran. <br/><br/>Earlier this week, Indian-origin convenience store owner 43 year old Harnish Patel of Lancaster in South Carolina was found dead of gun shot wounds in his yard.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj today said she is sorry to know about the attack on Deep Rai. In a series of tweets, the Minister said she spoke to father of the victim who informed her that his son had a bullet injury on his arm. Mrs Swaraj said he is out of danger and is recovering in a private hospital.<br/><br/>Mrs Swaraj also expressed her pain on the killing of Harnish Patel, the US national of Indian origin at Lancaster in South Carolina. She said a Consular official has reached Lancaster and met the family of Harnish Patel. and the investigation of the case is in progress. Mrs Swaraj expressed her heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of Harnish Patel.
