Construction of ten roads with a total length of nearly 433 kilometers is presently under implementation under the North Eastern States Roads Investment Programme (NESRIP). <br/><br/>The NESRIP is Asian Development Bank (ADB) assisted road project. Minister of Development of North Eastern Region Dr. Jitendra Singh gave this information in written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today. He said, the State Public Works Departments in the six states are the implementing agencies. <br/><br/>In Assam, the work has been completed from Bilasipara to Fakirgram. He said, more than half of the work of Barpeta to Kalitakuchi section in Assam and Garobadha to Dalu in Meghalaya has also been completed. As for the remaining projects, progress is at different stages of construction. <br/><br/>Dr. Singh said, four roads under Tranche-I are likely to be completed by 30th June, 2019 and the remaining roads by March 31, 2020. <br/><br/>The ADB has approved loan of 200 million dollars for NESRIP, but release is on reimbursement basis after the submission of necessary documents. The withdrawal from ADB stands at nearly 26 million dollars for Tranche-1 and 20 million dollars for Tranche-2 as on 31st of March this year.<br/><br/>
