Cong's Mistry to take on Modi in Vadodara; BJP fields actor Vinod Khanna against Punjab Cong Chief in Gurdaspur

Congress General Secretary Madhusudan Mistry, who is reported to be a confidant of Rahul Gandhi, will take on BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi from Vadodara Lok Sabha seat in Gujarat. The party released 7th list of 12 candidates yesterday.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari will not contest from Ludhiana Lok Sabha seat and the Congress has fielded party MP, Ravneet Singh Bittu in this constituency. The party has also given ticket to former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan from Nanded seat, who is an accused in Adarsh housing scam.

The names of candidates were announced by Congress General Secretary Madhusudan Mistry alongwith Ajay Maken in New Delhi last evening. Union Minister Santosh Choudhary will fight from Jalandhar parliamentary constituency in Punjab.

Later replying to a question on Ashok Chavan's candidature, Mr. Maken said no court or Election Commission has barred Chavan from contesting the polls. He said his case is different from that of Suresh Kalmadi, who is accused in CWG scam.
