The Congress today resolved to fight back and defeat the forces which seek to destroy India's secular and democratic constitution. <br/><br/>The Congress Working Committee in its meeting in New Delhi passed a resolution on the eve of 75th anniversary of Quit India Movement, rededicating itself to uphold and defend the idea of India as envisioned by the leaders of freedom movement. <br/><br/>The CWC expressed concern over what it called planned assaults on fundamental values of the country and constitutional rights of citizens. <br/><br/>Recalling the sacrifices of millions of the people and saluting the memory of thousands who laid down their lives, the Committee resolved to uphold, preserve and restore the ideals and values of the National Movement. <br/><br/>It said, the Congress has striven relentlessly in the seventy five years to realize the dreams of those who fought for the freedom and many of the ideals have indeed been realised, even if not in full measure. <br/><br/>It said, however, much remains to be done for the socio economic emancipation of the disadvantaged, deprived and marginalized sections of the people. <br/><br/>The resolution said the party always stood for a secular, democratic and inclusive India and reaffirms its commitment to strive for the upliftment of the poor and empowerment of the weak and the vulnerable.<br/>
