Congress Working Committee meets today

A meeting of the Congress Working Committee is being held in New Delhi on Friday against the backdrop of issues like price rise.

Party general secretary Janardan Dwivedi said on Wednesday that the meeting will review the current political situation.

The meeting takes place a day before the conference of Chief Ministers convened by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on price rise. The first meeting this year is expected to take stock of the organisational elections.

The issue of separate Telangana, which has become a ticklish affair for the party with pro and anti-Telangana factions at loggerheads may also likely to figure at the meeting.

The working committee deliberations are also important as the Union Budget 2010-11 is to be presented later this month.

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee is also expected to hold pre-budget consultations with AICC leaders.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi has said the issue of rising prices was one of highest concerns before the party.
