In Odisha, many Congress workers have been injured in a clash with police outside the state assembly during a protest rally at Bhubaneswar today. The Party claimed that 400 workers have been injured and out of them 150 have been admitted in hospital. Some police personnel and journalists reportedly sustained injuries in the clash. Congress workers were staging a protest demanding resignation of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for his alleged involvement in a series of scams including the coal block allocation scam.Trouble began when protesting Congress workers tried to force their way into the state assembly. The police had to resort to lathicharge, tear gas and firing in the air to stop the crowd. Senior Congress leaders Jagdish Tytler, Mirza Irshad Beg, Niranjan Patnaik and a number of party MPs and MLAs addressed the protestors before they tried to break the police barricade to enter the state assembly complex.
