In Odisha, many Congress workers have been injured in a clash with police outside the state assembly during a protest rally at Bhubaneswar today. Party claimed that 400 workers have been injured and out of them 150 have been admitted in hospital. Some police personnel and journalists reportedly sustained injures in the clash.The Congress workers were staging a protest demanding resingnation of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for his alleged involvement in a series of scams including the coalgate scam.Trouble began when protesting Congress workers tried to force their way into the state assembly. The police had to resort to lathicharge, shot tear gas shells and firing in the air to stop the crowd. Senior Congress leaders Jagdish Tytler, Mirza Irshad Beg, Niranjan Patnaik and a number of party MPs and MLAs addressed the protestors before they tried to break the police barricade to enter the state assembly complex.Meanwhile, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has said that the allegations of Congress party against him are baseless. He said the country is watching what has been going on inside the Parliament in the last few days.
