In Gujarat, ruling BJP has suffered a major setback in the first ever elections of Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation today. Opposition Congress has won 18 seats of 33 members newly created Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation, while BJP was restricted to 15 seats. Our Ahmedabad Correspondent reports that being a capital of the State, defeat in Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation is a major set back to the Narendra Modi Government. Polling was held on 19th April, in which about 60 percent voters had exercised their franchise.
