Congress urges PM to take up issue of former IPL chairman Lalit Modi's extradition

Congress today urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take up the issue of former IPL chairman Lalit Modi's extradition during his ongoing visit to UK. Talking to reporters in New Delhi, party spokesperson Randeep Surjewala asked Mr. Modi to ensure that the fugitive is brought back. He alleged that the Prime Minister's foreign visits have brought back little for the country and except promotion of Brand Modi.

Pointing out the links of Lalit Modi to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhra Raje, Mr. Surjewala said Mr. Modi can not hide behind technicalities of extradition law as the new Immigration Act of 2014 allows UK to deport any fugitive who is not British national.
