Congress today urged the Election Commission to constitute a high powered committee to enquire into the charges of money and muscle power to engineer defection of Congress MLAs ahead of Rajya Sabha elections in Gujarat. It also asked the poll panel to take all necessary actions for holding free and fair elections.<br/><br/>A delegation of party leaders led by senior leader Ghulam Nabi Azad met the EC this evening and submitted a memorandum. They alleged that BJP government is misusing power and authority ahead of the polls. They also alleged that three of its MLAs have been approached by BJP to defect from Congress in exchange for money.
