In Uttar Pradesh the Congress announced to organise Dharana and demonstration at all district headquarters on 22nd of this month in protest against lathi charge to women congress workers at Lucknow on Tuesday.<br/><br/>It was announced today at Lucknow by the President of Uttar Pradesh Congress Dr. Rita Bahuguna Joshi while talking to media persons. She said that party workers would hand over memorandum to the districts magistrates addressed to the Governor seeking dismissal of Mayawati government for its undemocratic working. <br/><br/>She alleged that law and order situation is very bad in the state and administration was working against the democratic norms. <br/><br/>She expressed her confidence that central government would take effective measures to check the price rise. She said state congress has opposed the any hike in the prices of petroleum products as it will add more fuel in already rocketing prices of essential commodities.<br/><br/>In Lucknow several Congress workers were injured in Police lathi charge when they attempted to march towards Vidhan Bhawan during a protest demonstration. State party president Dr. Rita Bahuguna Joshi and All India Congress Committee Secretary Pervez Hashmi, who is in charge of the party's affairs in the state, were among those who suffered injuries. <br/><br/>AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that the state unit of the women Congress had staged a Dharna to protest against atrocities against women, specially highlighting a case where a 16-year-old girl committed suicide recently after being raped in Kanpur .
