Congress has termed State Bank's decision to levy charges for not maintaining minimum monthly balance in saving bank accounts, as anti-poor and anti-middle class. <br/><br/>Briefing media in New Delhi today, party spokesperson Ajoy Kumar said, the decision will hurt the the poor badly. Mr Kumar alleged the present government is making all efforts to hurt the hardworking middle class and poor people. <br/><br/>After a gap of five years, State Bank of India had decided to reintroduce penalty on non-maintenance of minimum balance in accounts from 1st of next month. The Bank also revised charges on other services, including ATMs. <br/><br/>Country's largest bank will permit savings bank account holders to deposit cash three times a month free of charges and levy 50 rupees plus service tax on every transaction beyond that. As per revised charges of SBI, failure to maintain Monthly Average Balance (MAB) in accounts will attract penalty of up to 100 rupees plus service tax.<br/>
