Former UP State Congress President Rita Bahuguna Joshi today joined the BJP. She joined the party in the presence of BJP president Amit Shah at party headquarters in New Delhi.<br/><br/>Earlier in the day, Ms Joshi who is MLA form Lucknow Cantt resigned from the Congress. Criticising the Congress, she said the party has lost ground and cannot provide an alternative in Uttar Pradesh. She said, she was pained on Congress stand on surgical strikes by Indian Army. Ms Joshi said, she has also tendered her resignation from the state legislative assembly. <br/><br/>Reacting to the development, Congress termed Ms Joshi's exit from the party as betrayal. Talking to media, senior party leader Ghulam Nabi Azad described Ms Bahuguna as an opportunist. He said, she was afraid of loosing her seat in the upcoming assembly elections.
