Congress stresses need to extradite absconding Union Carbide former Chief

Congress today stressed on the need to extradite the absconding former chief Warren Anderson of Union Carbide, accused in the Bhopal Gas Tragedy. <br/><br/>Talking to reporters in New Delhi, party spokesperson, Mrs. Jayanthi Natrajan said that all perpetrators of the tragic accident should be brought to justice. <br/><br/>Denying reports of government support to the accused, she said that no individual government or investigating body could be blamed 26 years after the tragedy. She added that now the focus should be on rehabilitaion and future precaution. <br/><br/>Mrs. Natrajan however said that the Nuclear Liability Bill cannot be linked with the Bhopal tragedy. <br/><br/>A newly appointed Empowered Group of Ministers will assess the impact of the accident and suggest measures to improve the rehabilitation process.
