The debate on power crisis in the state ended with a walk out by the Congress members in Karnataka Legislative Assembly today. Reacting to the reply given by the Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on measures taken by his government to solve power shortage in the state, the leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah charged that the Government has miserably failed in providing electricity, resulting in hardship to farmers, students and the industries. <br/><br/>In his reply the Chief Minister promised 23 hours electricity to Bangalore city, 22 hours to other cities and six hour three phase and six hour single phase current to rural areas. He also informed that the government is purchasing 1000 Mega Watt of power from private power companies at a cost of Rs.320 crores to tie over the power shortage in the state. <br/><br/>At this point the leader of JD(S) Legislative party in the Assembly H D Revanna directly charged that Chief Minister is involved in a mega power purchase scam worth Rs.477 crore during August 2008. <br/><br/>Reacting to this charge, the Chief Minister denied the allegations and stated that Justice Mohan Kumar committee has been constituted to enquire into this power purchase deal from a private company during that period.<br/>
