Congress has criticised the Centre for not imposing Minimum Alternate Tax (MAT) on Foreign Institutional Investments, FIIs retrospectively. <br/><br/>In a statement, party Spokesperson, Abhishek Manu Singhvi alleged that the BJP government has given unreasonable benefits to the foreign firms and individuals by waiving of tax liability of over 40 thousand crore rupees. <br/><br/>Mr Singhvi asked the Prime Minister and Finance Minister to explain how the decision of Authority of Advance Rulings against the FIIs suddenly became infructuous. <br/><br/>He also questioned how the government will now be answerable to Parliament for what he called blatantly waiving 40 thousand crore rupees owed to the Indian people.Yesterday, the government accepted the Justice AP Shah committee report on the Minimum Alternative Tax, MAT on , FIIs.<br/><br/>Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had said, government will not impose levy on FIIs prior to 1st April 2015.
