Congress rules out leadership change in Maharashtra

The Congress has ruled out the possibility of change of leadership in Maharashtra. Talking to media persons today in New Delhi, party spokesman Rashid Alvi said, the current crisis in Maharashtra is an internal matter of alliance partner, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

He said, Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithivraj Chavan, State Party President and also the incharge of the Maharashtra affairs in the party is looking into the matter. He said, the central government is stable and will complete its full term.

Regarding Congress president Sonia Gandhi's remarks on negative politics, Mr Alvi said the main opposition party BJP has included the agenda of Foreign Direct Investment, FDI in their 2004 manifesto, but now they are opposing when the Congress is implementing it. Mr. Alvi termed the BJP's attitude as negative politics.
