The Congress Committee on Kashmir met in New Delhi last night the Party under the leadership of President Sonia Gandhi. It reviewed the performance of the state's coalition government, of which the party is a constituent, and extended complete support to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.Quoting party sources News Agency PTI reports that the meeting asked the state government to crack down on corruption and non-functioning of a part of the bureaucracy.It also laid emphasis on district and tehsil-level contact with the people. The meeting was attended by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Home Minister P Chidambaram, Defence Minister A K Antony, Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, senior Congress leaders Saifuddin Soz, Karan Singh and Ahmed Patel.The Kashmir Valley had witnessed separatist-sponsored street violence in the last three weeks.
