Retaliating against BJP's attack yesterday on Robert Vadra over land deal issue, Congress today accused BJP leader Narendra Modi of having relations with alleged Hawala operative Afroz Fatta whose house was raided by the Enforcement Directorate in Surat. A raid was conducted in connection with a 700 crore rupees Hawala transactions in March this year. Fatta was also arrested in this connection. The party distributed photographs and a CD purportedly showing Modi with a man that it claims is Fatta and asked Modi to disclose his relations with him.
Talking to reporters in New Delhi party spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala alleged that the Gujarat BJP website and the personal website of Modi, display Fatta's photographs. He demanded that Modi should disclose what kind of relations he has with the Hawala operative and who is the beneficiary of the money.
Surjewala claimed that there is also an underworld link to the Hawala transaction. He asked the Gujarat Chief Minister to face a probe by an independent agency into the matter.
Reacting to the Congress allegation, the BJP said it is not in a hurry to answer it. Party spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman told reporters that the ruling party should first answer the allegations of wrong doings by Robert Vadra in land deals.
