Congress today released its first list for assembly elections in Meghalaya and Tripura. <br/><br/>The Meghalaya list carries names of 57 candidates. Tripura list carries names of 56 candidates. The names were approved by the Central Election Committee of the party.<br/><br/>The Congress party today released the first list of candidates for the polls to 60-member Tripura assembly. As per the list, fifty six candidates' names have been announced and remaining four names will be declared later. As per the list, the party president and senior Congress leader Birjit Sinha will contest from Kailasahar constituency. <br/><br/>While other senior leaders such as; Sitting MLA Gopal Chandra Roy from Banamalipur, former speaker Jotirmay Nath from Bagbassa and former ministers Billal Mia from Boxonagar and Laxmi Nag from Dhanpur constituencies will contest the election. <br/> <br/>Meanwhile, BJP is likely to announce their candidates' list by today late evening. The party has decided to ally with the tribal based party Indigenous Peoples' Front of Tripura (IPFT) in 9 seats in this election.<br/><br/>The last date for filing nominations is 31st January. The scrutiny of the nominations will be held on 1st February and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is 3rd February. The voting will be held on 18th February and the counting will take place on 3rd March.
