Congress has rubbished BJP's demand for Prime Minister's resignation over JPC issue. Briefing newsmen in New Delhi this evening, the Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi called the opposition demand a politicl brandstanding. Holding the opposition responsible for the logjam, Mr. Singhvi said that the Congress-led UPA has started multi – agency investigation into the alleged 2G Spectrum allocation irregularities. He wanted to know from BJP what ground they have covered to end the Parliamentary obstruction. Calling demand for JPC, a political gimmic Mr. Singhvi said that JPC cannot look into many aspects of the probe such as money laundering and Income Tax evasion. In reply to a query whether Prime Minister's offer to appear before PAC was like denigrating his office, the spokesperson said that it was Dr. Manmohan Singh's personal sentiment expressed in a particular context. In reply to a query on the rising prices of Onion, Mr. Singhvi said that government is taking every possible action to normalise the prices. Attributing the rising prices to unexpected rain in Maharashtra, he said that the Onion prices have come down by 20 per cent after the export ban was announced by the government.
