Congress questions Mayawati's statement on education funding

Congress today questioned the statement by the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Ms Mayawati that the state govenment does not have enough funds for the implementation of the Right to education. The party spokesman, Abhishek Singhvi wondered how then crores of rupees were being spent on statues and raising special security force for protecting them. He said that out of the 95 lakh children who are out of school, more than one third are in Uttar Pradesh alone. He said that it is unfortunate that the Mayawati government is giving preference to inanimate statues over vibrant children. He said, this reflects the mindset of the UP government which he alleged is anti-development and anti-people.
