Former Union Minister and Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar on Monday claimed that Congress proposed to the NCP to support Shivsena to form the new government in Maharashtra under Congress-NCP’s combine backing.
However, his party has refused the offer stating that NCP will not compromise with its ideologies.
Speaking to media persons in Mumbai on Monday afternoon Pawar said that in the present circumstances there is a need for a stable government in the state.
He said that Party is firm with its decision to extend unconditional outside support to BJP to form the new government in the state considering state's interest in mind.
He also cleared that Nationalist Congress party will not take part in forming the new government in Maharashtra.
Meanwhile, the NCP on Monday declared Ajit PAwar as Party’s leader in the Maharashtra assembly.
Ajit Pawar also reiterated that a congress leader has telephoned him offering new alliance consisting Congress-NCP and Shivsena.
On the other hand both Congress and Shiv Sena have denied Sharad Pawar’s claim. State Congress president Manikrao Thackeray on Monday asked Sharad Pawar to disclose the name of the Congress leader who gave the offer of forming Congress-NCP-Shiv Sena alliance.
Shivsena spokesperson Sanjay Raut also rubbished Pawar’s claim and termed it as just a rumor.
Congress has feigned ignorance at NCP chief Sharad Pawar’s claim that it had proposed to NCP to support Shiv Sena to form government in Maharashtra.
Talking to AIR, party spokesperson Shakeel Ahmad said, Mr Pawar should disclose who made the proposal from the Congress’ side.
