The oldest political party of the country- Congress begins year-long celebrations today to commemorate 125 years of its formation. The party was founded on the 28th of December in 1885. The Congress President Mrs Sonia Gandhi and the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh will lay the foundation stone of the Indira Gandhi Bhavan, which will be the new headquarters of the AICC, at Kotla Road to mark the occasion. The celebrations will be based on the theme ‘Past Foundation and Future Vision.’ The party will also apprise the younger generation, of the party’s history and legacy. Achievement of the party at social, economic, cultural and international level since independence will be projected through various media. The Congress has drawn up a list of over 30 personalities whose services to the nation will be showcased prominently during the celebrations and also focus on the events and places associated with the freedom struggle.<br/>
