A Congress panel headed by senior party leader A K Antony on Sunday held discussions with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna to look into the reasons for the party's performance in recent assembly polls in the state. The party failed to get a majority on its own. Other members of the panel includes Power Minister
Sushil Kumar Shinde and Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit. It is also reviewing the party's performance at the hustings in Goa and Punjab. Mr. Bahuguna told reporters in New Delhi that they discussed whether election results could have been better. He said, the meeting also discussed the party's strategy in the state for the 2014 general elections.
Bahuguna, who is a Lok Sabha MP, will have to contest an election and become the member of the State legislative Assembly within a stipulated time frame to continue in office.
Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi had also recently reviewed the performance of the Party in UP Assembly elections where it stood fourth.
