Senior Congress leaders on Monday held close door meetings in New Delhi to discuss the issue. AIR Correspondent reports that the party president Mrs Sonia Gandhi exchanged views with senior leaders including Mr Pranab Mukherjee, Veerappa Moily and Mr Ahmad Patel. Earlier, Mr Ahmad Patel held discussions with Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy on the issue. The party MPs from Andhra Pradesh are also holding a meeting on Tuesday to firm up a stand on the issue. Meanwhile BJP has made it clear that they will support a bill for carving out the state of Telangana. Party leaders have urged the government to bring legislation for the purpose in both Houses of Parliament

Andhra Pradesh Assembly has been adjourned for the day without transacting any business as the Telengana Rastra Samithi (TRS), BJP and CPI members have stalled proceedings. The trouble started soon after the house met in the morning when Speaker Kiran Kumar Reddy rejected to take up adjournment motions notice given by TRS seeking a resolution on separate state for Telangana. The speaker twice adjourned the house for a brief period when the TRS members thronged speaker’s podium disrupting the proceedings. While displaying placards and sloganeering in favour of Telangana, the TRS members stalled the business. BJP and CPI members also joined them at the podium. Repeated requests from the Chair to take up the agenda as decided by the Business Advisory Committee were defied by the agitating members. Earlier, the speaker also rejected adjournment motions notices given by TRS, BJP, CPI, TDP, and Praja Rajyam on different issues. Meanwhile, the health condition of fasting TRS president K Chandrasekhara Rao is weak but stable as his fast enters 10th day today. Doctors at Nizam’s Institute of Medical science said all the vital parameters of his health are within normal limits.
