Congress-NCP agree on seat sharing for Maharashtra polls

In Maharashtra, although the Congress and NCP have agreed on the formula of 174 and 114 seats the third round of talks between the parties to negotiate over certain seats is continuing in Mumbai. Both parties have staked claim over some seats which are new after delimitation.br/br/ br/br/The Congress and NCP have agreed on a formula to contest 174 and 114 seats for the assembly elections. The final round of talks between Congress and NCP is in progress for candidates on some seats. Meanwhile, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) announced first list of 34 candidates for assembly elections and will contest on all the 288 assembly seats. The 22 year-old Shiv Sena-BJP combine has firmed up continuation of the previous seat sharing formula of 171 for Shiv-Sena and 117 for BJP. BJP Spokesperson Prakash Jawadekar said in Mumbai that his party is likely to release their first list of candidates for Maharashtra Assembly elections in a couple of days.
