In Andhra Pradesh, Congress MPs and MLAs from Telangana Region have launched hunger strike in Hyderabad this morning. Demanding the State and Central Governments to lift-off all the cases registered against students during last year agitations, all the elected representatives are taking part in the hunger strike. Launching the hunger strike, Congress Working Committee member and MP K Kesava Rao said their hunger strike was aimed at bringing moral pressure on Government to lift-off the cases against students without any categorisation. Despite Union Home Minister Chidambaram’s assurances and the repeated requests from party MPs the cases have not been lifted-off he said. He added that their agitation would continue till a clear announcement was made over the issue. The Telangana Congress representatives have launched the stir at GunPark after paying tributes at the Mahatma Gandhi statue in the Assembly Premises.
