The Congress has moved 44 of its Gujarat MLAs to a private resort in Bengaluru to guard them from the BJP ahead of the August 8 Rajya Sabha polls in the state. The MLAs arrived at the Bengaluru International Airport at 2:30am and were taken to a private Resort near Ramanagara 40 kilometre away from Bengaluru. They were escorted by party MP DK Suresh, the younger brother of Karnataka Power Minister DK Shivakumar. The move from the congress comes in the wake of six of its 57 legislators quitting the party in the last two days.<br/><br/> Their move comes days before the crucial Rajya Sabha polls on August 8 being fought by Ahmed Patel, senior Congress leader and political secretary to Sonia Gandhi. This operation is being monitored by AICC general secretary in-charge of Karnataka K.C.Venugopal.<br/><br/>The Gujarat Congress MLAs came in two batches were taken to a private resort near Ramanagara which is 40 kilometer away from Bengaluru. Bengaluru Rural MP D.K.Suresh, who is overseeing the arrangements, said that the Congress MLAs from Gujarat came to Karnataka for rest and tourist purpose. <br/><br/>Meanwhile Ashok Gehlot, the Congress General Secretary in-charge for Gujarat, defended the party's action and repeated the allegations that the BJP was using money, muscle and state power to force party MLAs in Gujarat to quit. Meanwhile speaking to media Karnataka State BJP President B.S.Yeddyurappa today said that the Congress sensing the danger of its leader Ahmed Patel losing the Rajya Sabha elections in Gujarat has shifted the party MLAs to Karnataka. Police personnel have been deployed around the resort for security.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, Congress today denied the allegations of BJP that Congress betrayed the flood affected people by sending their MLAs out of the state. Addressing the Press Conference at Ahmedabad, State Congress President Bharatsinh Solanki has said that all Congress MLAs of the flood affected districts were in their constituency from the very first day. He alleged that on the contrary, the state government has failed to provide rescue and relief to the affected people on time. <br/><br/>Earlier, former Congress leader Shankarsinh Vaghela had alleged that instead of serving people in their Constituency during the flood, Congress sent them out of state.
