Congress lodges complaint with EC against Modi for not mentioning wife's name in affidavits for elections held in the past

Congress today lodged a complaint with the Election Commission against BJP leader Narendra Modi for not disclosing the name and assets of his wife in the affidavit for the elections held in the past.

Briefing reporters in New Delhi, party leader Kapil Sibal said by not mentioning wife's name in the affidavits filed before the Commission, Modi has violated the Representation of People Act and the poll body should initiate action against him. He also said it is not a personal issue but Modi is legally bound to make all information regarding his family members and assets public.

In his affidavit filed along with nomination paper before the Election Commission for Vadodara Lok Sabha seat , BJP leader has mentioned his wife's name. However, he used to leave the column vacant in pervious election affidavits.
