Congress leaders condemn Punjab terror attack

Congress today condemned the terror attack in Gurdaspur in Punjab. Briefing media in New Delhi, party spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi said Congress stands firmly behind the government in their resolve to fight against terrorism. He said doublespeak of Akali Dal, BJP as well as Aam Aadmi Party on Khalistani terrorists is deplorable. Mr Singhvi also criticised the Home Minister for absenting himself and going to Madhya Pradesh in the midst of the crisis in Punjab.

The party spokesperson said more than 800 ceasefire violations have taken place in Jammu and Kashmir since May last year, which is 8 times the violations of 2013-14. He said it is a result of intelligence failure, and administrative and political failure.

Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad has strongly condemned the latest terrorist assault carried out by terrorists at Dinanagar Police Station in Gurdaspur District of Punjab. Coming down heavily on Pakistan and its terror-manufacturing apparatus, Mr Azad said security forces have been fighting Pakistan sponsored terror for more than thirty years and its security forces are fully equipped to counter it.

He said Indian armed forces and people have shown enough resilience to counter such cowardly attempts from across the border. Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha also conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the Punjab police personnel and the civilians who lost their lives in the incident.
