Congress and JD (U) today moved Election Commission demanding that an FIR be lodged against BJP leader Giriraj Singh for saying that people opposing Narendra Modi should go to Pakistan. Giriraj, who is contesting Lok Sabha election from Nawada in Bihar, said this in presence of party leader Nitin Gadkari at an election rally in Deogarh, Jharkhand yesterday. Talking to AIR, Congress Legal Cell head K C Mittal said, in its complaint to the Commission, the party contended that Giriraj's comment is anti-national and seditious. He said the comment is dangerous and could divide the country on religious lines.
In a letter to Chief Election Commissioner V S Sampath, JD (U) spokesperson K C Tyagi demanded that criminal proceedings should be initiated against both Giriraj and Gadkari for anti social activities and vitiating atmosphere of society. Tyagi alleged that the two leaders were not only trying to threaten the minority voters but also divide society and create hatred among the two communities.
