Congress and JD(U) have demanded immediate arrest of BJP leader Narendra Modi for violating election rules. In a letter to the Election Commission,AICC legal cell Secretary K. C. Mittal asked for adding more sections in the FIR already filed against Modi.

JD(U) leader K C Tyagi in a letter to the Commission also demanded countermanding of polls in Varanasi and Vadodra for alleged violation of poll code and provisions of People Representation Act. Tyagi said, the poll panel has failed to control hate speeches, personal character attacks and communal polarisation.
