Congress issues show cause notices to two Andhra MPs

Acting tough, Congress high command has issued show cause notices to two Andhra Pradesh MPs — L Rajagopal and Madhu Goud Yashki — who are at the forefront of anti and pro Telangana campaigns.

The action came a day after it cracked the whip against rebel Andhra Pradesh Minister from Telangana K Venkata Reddy, who raised a storm by attacking Chief Minister K Rosaiah. Mr Rajagopal and Mr Yashki have been asked to reply within 15 days. They have been charged with deliberately acting against party's interests despite advice and embarrassing the organisation.

The notice to the two MPs was issued by AICC general secretary Janardhan Dwivedi, who is in-charge of organisational affairs. The action approved by party President Sonia Gandhi came on the basis of a report from M Veerappa Moily, in-charge of party affairs in Andhra
Pradesh.

Mr Rajagopal, a strong votary of unified Andhra Pradesh had sent his resignation to Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar a day after the Centre announced that it would initiate steps
for the formation of a separate Telangana.

The Vijayawada MP had also observed a fast unto death, which was forcefully brought to an end by the authorities. Mr Yashki, the MP from Nizamabad in Telangana, was in the forefront of the pro Telangana agitation and is said to be the prime mover behind the resignations of the MPs from the region.
