Congress holds high-level meet over A Raja issue

The top brass of Congress held a high level meeting in New Delhi today in the wake of opposition demands for the removal of Telecom Minister A Raja from the Union Cabinet. The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and party chief Mrs Sonia Gandhi, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Political Secretary to the Congress President,Ahmed Patel attended the meeting.The deliberations took place at Parliament House where they had gone to pay tributes to Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru on his 121st birth anniversary. Mr.Raja belongs to the UPA ally, DMK. Our correspondents reports , the consultations by Congress leaders assume significance in the wake of the opposition, including BJP and the Left, threatening to continue to stall Parliament if Raja is not removed from the Union Council of Ministers. Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function in New Delhi today, senior Congress leader and Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee refused to comment on spectrum controversy involving telecom minister A Raja. He said that whatever has to be said will be said in Parliament. In a related development, the Supreme Court will hear the petition against Telecom Minister A Raja tomorrow. A bench comprising Justice G S Singhvi and Justice A K Ganguly would hear the two petitions filed by one NGO CPIL and Subramanian Swamy alleging corruption in the entire spectrum allocation.
