Congress hits out at VK Singh over anti-Dalit remarks

Congress today took a dig at Union Minister Gen. VK Singh for questioning Rahul Gandhi over his attendance in Parliament and termed it as diversionary tactics by the Minister to cover up his recent inflammatory remarks against Dalits.

Talking to media outside Parliament, party leader Jyotiraditya Scindia said instead of commenting on Mr. Gandhi, the Minister should clarify whether he will apologize for his comments. He said due to such controversial comments by the ruling party leaders there is an atmosphere of intolerance in the country.

Yesterday, participating in the Lok Sabha discussion on intolerance in the country Congress Vice President had targeted V K Singh for allegedly making controversial remarks over the killings of two dalits in Haryan last month. Reacting to it, the Minister in a series of tweets said Mr. Gandhi has one of the poorest track records when it comes to attending Parliament. Gen. Singh also said that the Congress leader talks about his intention to participate in the divisive politics, but forgets that he served the Indian Army for 42 years.
