Congress for special audit of MNREGA in UP

In Uttar Pradesh state congress has demanded a special audit in implementation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act MNREGA in the state. <br/><br/>State Congress President Dr. Rita Bahuguna Joshi has alleged that state government has given false information regarding implementation of MNREGA therefore the Centre should get a special audit done. <br/><br/>The UPCC chief has said that suspension of few officers recently by the state government was a simply a eye wash as it was done only after the issue was raised by AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi during meeting of district vigilance committee in Sultanpur. <br/><br/>She however, alleged that the government took no action against officers in Kanpur Dehat and Hamirpur districts where irregularities were also pointed out by the party.<br/><br/>AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that the State Congress had recently released a detail report of large scale irregularities in MNREGA in seven districts of the state. <br/><br/>The party had also written a letter to the state government and submitted all facts. <br/><br/>In Its report party had alleged that Material component of about 5,000 crore rupees was purchased from unregistered contractors, resulting in loss of tax and royalty to the state exchequer in the said districts. <br/><br/>The Party has also alleged that the works were being awarded to a blacklisted NGO and maximum numbers of irregularities have been detected in Chitrakoot division of Bundelkhand region.<br/>
