Kick starting her campaign in Puducherry, UPA chairperson, Mrs Sonia Gandhi today said, the Congress does not play politics in development and gives equal importance to all states, irrespective of which party is ruling.Addressing an election rally in the union territory this evening, she sad the centre has laid a strong foundation for secularism besides instilling confidence in minorities. Listing the achievements of the centre, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi said, special emphasis is being given to the youth, as they shape the future of the country.Stating that Puducherry remains first among states in implementing social welfare schemes, Mrs Gandhi said the union territory is the only place where free medical education is provided to local students. Mrs Sonia Gandhi said there was all round development in the union territory as the congress party was in power both in the centre and in Puducherry, leading to better utilization of funds. Union Ministers Mr V.Narayansamy, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Chief Mr V.Vaithalingam participated in the rally.
