Congress distances itself from Aiyar's remarks on Paris attacks

Congress has distanced itself from party leader Mani Shankar Aiyar's remarks on Paris terror attacks. Briefing media in New Delhi this evening, party spokesperson Ajay Maken said Aiyar should make statements after careful consideration. He said in no way, anyone can justify this inhuman act which claimed so many lives.

Reacting to the terror attack, Aiyar had said that the anti-Islam phobia being carried out in the western countries should be stopped immediately and Muslims living in France should be assured that they are also citizens of that country.

Mr. Maken also condemned statements made by Uttar Pradesh Minister Azam Khan that superpowers should think whether the attacks were a reaction to the killing of innocents in Arab countries. Congress spokesperson demanded removal of the minister for his remarks.
