Congress has dismissed suggestions that dissidence in Assam unit of the party is rebellion against Rahul Gandhi.

Speaking to reporters outside Parliament House on Monday, party leader Kamal Nath said some party leaders may be unhappy with Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, but it doesn't mean that it is a revolt against Mr Gandhi.

He said the majority of State legislators are with the Chief Minister.

The reaction came after Assam Health and Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma resigned early on Monday.
