Congress demands immediate resignation of Yeddyurappa

The Congress today demanded immediate resignation of the Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa in the wake of observations made by the State Lok Ayukta, Justice Santosh Hegde in the alleged land allotment scam. Talking to reporters in New Delhi, party spokesman Manish Tiwari alleged that the judicial enquiry ordered by the Yeddyurappa government is aimed at scuttling the probe by the Lok Ayukta.Mr Tiwari also demanded a statement from the BJP leadership on the remarks made by its leader and former union minister Arun Shourie regarding depriving him of taking part in the 2009 Budget debate in Parliament. Mr Tiwari said the debate fixing is the contribution of the BJP.The Congress spokesman, Mr Manish Tiwari also asked the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh to name the real owner of a private company, which had obtained licence for mining in the state. He alleged the owner of the company had the blessings of senior BJP leaders in Delhi.
