Congress demands filing of FIR against Modi, other BJP leaders for violation of Model Code in Varanasi

Congress has demanded filing of an FIR against BJP leader Narendra Modi and others BJP leaders for violation of Model Code of Conduct in Varanasi today.

In a complaint to the Election Commission, the party said there was a live telecast of Modi's roadshow in Varanasi and his filing of nomination in 117 constituencies when polling was on today. It said, it is a clear violation of the modal Code of Conduct.

Party spokesperson Anand Sharma told reporters in New Delhi today that the commission should have taken pre-emptive action against live coverage.

The Congress spokesman also termed Modi as a a megalomaniac for claiming that of God has chosen him to rescue the country. He said , in that case why should this voting exercise to be done , if God has already selected him.

On Modi's allegation that women are not safe in Congress ruled states, Sharma citing official data said, the highest number of rape cases have been reported in BJP ruled Madhya Pradesh and the track record is also not good in Gujarat.
