Congress has asked the Election Commission to take cognizance of BJP leader and former Bihar Minister Giriraj Singh's comment that people opposing Narendra Modi should go to Pakistan. Talking to a news agency in New Delhi today, party leader Meem Afzal said, the Commission should initiate the process of sending Singh to jail. He alleged that people like Giriraj Singh try to get applause by making such comments and remain in news.
The Rashtriya Janata Dal has said that it will go to the Election Commission seeking a ban on Singh. The party spokesperson that RJD will submit a petition before the EC seeking similar action as was taken by the commission against Amit Shah and Azam Khan. The RJD will also file a complaint against Nitin Gandkari for his comments that castesim is in the DNA of Bihari people. JD(U) has also filed complaints to Election Commission against the inflammatory comments of Giriraj Singh.
The Bharatiya Janata Party has distanced itself from BJP leader and former Bihar Minister Giriraj Singh's Pakistan remark saying that it does not agree with such statements. BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman said that the BJP has completely distanced itself from Giriraj's remark and the party do not believe in this kind of comment.
The BJP has said that Narendra Modi is running a positive campaign. Nirmala Sitharaman said that the campaign is on constructive and positive agenda of providing a better economic and harmonious environmen.
Earlier, Giriraj Singh, on Friday last, had stated that those opposing Modi will have to go to Pakistan Former deputy CM of Bihar Sushil Kumar Modi also said that the BJP doesn't approve of the irresponsible statement given by Singh. Meanwhile, despite facing criticism from his party, Singh today said that he will stand by his comment. He also added that he did not take an approval from the BJP before making the statement. The BJP is facing severe opposition over Singh's remarks.
