Congress has requested the Election Commission for ordering registration of an FIR against Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and her arrest for reported open threat by her at an election rally at Karoli in the State.
In a letter to the Commission, the party also demanded action against Ms. Raje for alleged violation of model code of conduct.
In his letter to the poll body, Secretary of AICC Legal Department K C Mittal claimed that Raje had said that let the elections be over, we will see who is cut into pieces at the rally.
Raje had allegedly made the comments while referring to the controversial remarks by Saharanpur Congress candidate Imran Masood in which he had allegedly threatened to chop Narendra Modi into pieces.
Mittal said, Masood had made his remarks seven months ago when he had not even joined Congress and the matter is also under investigation after registration of FIR.
He said, there was no provocation for Ms. Raje to retaliate in such a manner, nor can she justify her threat under any law.
Congress leader alleged, this was a premeditated comment made to muster electoral support with impunity.
He also alleged in the letter that Chief Minister's Office seems to be preventing the local police from registering an FIR and arresting her.
The Aam Aadmi Party also moved the EC, urging it to ensure action against Raje for her “provocative”remarks.
