Congress criticises EC for not accepting demand of checking VVPATS slips before counting

<span style="color: #222222;">Congress today criticised Election Commission for not accepting the opposition parties demand of checking VVPATS slips before the actual counting.  </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Briefing Media, Congress Spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi said in New Dehi that a delegation of 23 parties representing about 75 per cent of the electorates met the EC and appealed for matching the mandatory 5 per cent VVPATS on random basis before the counting.  The practice is to match the VVPATS and EVMS after the counting is over.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Mr. Singhvi sought to know the reason behind the rejection of their demand and said, there will be no delay or damage if the commission matches the slips with EVMs before the counting. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">He alleged, there is credibility crunch in Election Commission's functioning in this Lok Sabha election. Mr Singhvi also said that the commission must accept the representation of the all 23 parties demanding matching of slips with EVMs. He said even if the EC didn't agree to the demand, it should have agreed to it to restore its credibility.</span><br />''
