Coming down heavily on NDA government, Congress President Sonia Gandhi today said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had to bow to the will of the country's farmers and withdraw Land Ordinance.<br/><br/>Addressing Kisan Samman Rally at Ramlila Ground in New Delhi, Ms Gandhi said farmers are going through difficult times ever since NDA government came to power.<br/><br/>She countered Mr Modi's charge that Congress is blocking development and said party will oppose decisions which are against the interests of farmers.<br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi said the fight on Land Bill is not limited to Parliament but has to be fought even in Assemblies. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is ignoring the plight of poor people in the country to favor the rich. Mr Gandhi said the government was forced to drop Ordinance on land bill and the credit goes to farmers.<br/><br/>Saying that Congress is fighting for the dignity of farmers, Mr Gandhi accused the NDA government of trying to snatch land of farmers. He alleged that the Prime Minister does Mann Ki Baat shows for the poor, but does not listen to their problems.<br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said efforts are being made to weaken many schemes like Food Security and MNREGA brought by UPA in interest of people. <br/><br/>Meanwhile, BJP today alleged that UPA had ignored farmers' plight in its ten year rule. Reacting to Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Vice President Rahul Gandhi's speech at the Kisaan Samman Rally today, BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad alleged that Congress party never wanted to empower the farmers of the country. He asked the Congress leadership to explain how Robert Vadra acquired land in Haryana. He said the NDA government is working for overall development of the country.
