The congress core meeting is underway at Prime Minister house . The UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi ,Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and senior leaders including Sushil Kumar Sindhe and Ahmed Patal are present in the meeting.

The Congress Core Group had a meeting in New Delhi yesterday in the back drop of the arrest of Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal's nephew by the CBI in a bribery case.

Earlier, the Railway minister met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh yesterday and he is reported to have apprised him of his position following the arrest of his relative in a bribery case. Distancing himself from his nephew V. Singla , Pawan Kumar Bansal had said that he had no business links with him and denied any wrongdoing. In a statement Bansal claimed that he has always observed highest standards of probity in public life and that nobody can influence his decisions. He also sought an expeditious CBI inquiry into the issue.

Meanwhile, the CBI has arrested two more accused in the Railway bribery scandal, taking the total number of arrests by the agency to eight. Rahul Yadav, one of the middlemen, named in the FIR, was arrested by the agency last night. Samir Sandhir, associate of Rahul Yadav was arrested by CBI this morning.
Two courier boys, who allegedly delivered 90 lakh rupees cash as bribe to Bansal's nephew for fixing the promotion of a Railway Board member, were arrested by the agency yesterday.
